Making space for business to grow

A handy guide on price expectations for a new mezzanine floor

Understanding your precise needs is key

Here at Cubex Contracts we’ve been designing and installing mezzanine floors in offices, warehouses and retails stores for over 25 years, and in that time we’ve seen no end of uses and configurations!

One question we hear all the time is, ‘‘How much will a mezzanine floor cost?’’  And that’s a great question, but one we cannot answer until we know a little bit more about your workspace.

The good news is that a mezzanine floor is a one-time cost, but the exact amount differs from one project to the next as no two sites are the same.  Both customer requirements and project specifications can differ quite substantially.

Below is a handy guide on price expectations for a new mezzanine floor installation within different workspaces:

Now the key here is to understand that no two projects are the same and it might cost more, it might cost less.  But hopefully it gives you an order of magnitude to work with.

For a more accurate cost, feel free to give our Project Estimate function a try.  This will help us provide an estimate based on your specific needs such as office or production use, and the size of your mezzanine in square metres.

Or why not contact us to arrange a site visit?  We’ll visit your commercial premises and design a bespoke mezzanine floor specific to your requirements and confirm exactly how much you can expect to pay.

Dave Chapman

“Cubex dismantled our existing mezzanine floor and goods lift in 3 days. They were then able to consult with us on the best location for the floor to be rebuilt within our new premises with only minor alterations to still meet our business needs. The build went up in 3 days and we have been really happy with the result. It was done with minimal disruption and with a tight lead time. Cubex were also able to save most of the fire rated ceiling tiles and column cases, as well as the lighting under the floor, all of which were reinstated and prevented us from having to spend more money on fire rating the mezzanine to obtain building regulations in its new situ. The whole move was conducted with minimal fuss, expense and disruption to our business.”

Frequently Asked Questions About Office Mezzanine Flooring

We create additional floor space for clients in commercial offices who once feared they had reached their limit on space.  A mezzanine floor can easily provide extra space to support the day-to-day operations of your business, making space for your business to grow without the hassle of moving premises.

If you’ve got any questions about how a Mezzanine Floor installation could help your business, please get in touch, or take a look at our Frequently Asked Questions below:

What is a mezzanine floor?

A mezzanine floor is an additional level installed in a building to provide more space, but it does not extend over the whole of the main floor, just part of it.

How beneficial could a mezzanine floor really be?

Flexible structure – check!  Cost effective – check!  Maximise space – check!  By installing a mezzanine floor you can potential double (or triple!) your existing workspace without having to buy or rent new/additional premises.  What could your business achieve with that extra space?

Will our new mezzanine require Building Regulation Approval?

Yes in all cases, but once appointed Cubex Contracts will administer the building regulation application on your behalf.

Can you erect partitions on a Mezzanine Floor?

Yes – an office mezzanine floor design can include partitions, suspended ceilings, floor coverings, heating, lighting and mechanical systems as well  as office furniture.  It will also include appropriate methods to access the mezzanine level that link into your existing office infrastructure such as a staircase.

How long does it take to install mezzanine level flooring?

We will need to visit your premises prior to installing a mezzanine floor to asses your needs and carry out a site survey to check specifications and measurements. Depending on the number of mezzanine floor levels and the overall floor space, your office mezzanine could be installed in just one day – you’ll be back to work in no time!

Can you obtain finance for a mezzanine floor?

Yes. Mezzanine loans are typically available to established companies looking to expand rather than start-ups looking for early-phase financing. This type of finance is typically more cost effective than a standard loan for example as it used a combination of debt and equity financing. Cubex Contracts works with a mezzanine finance expert and we can refer you to them if this is something you wanted to consider.

Is there a weight restriction on an office mezzanine floor?

A standard office mezzanine level is designed to take around 360kg per square metre.  It’s also worth noting that the mezzanine load rating for office space will be different from the load rating for heavy industrial use

Where can I have a mezzanine floor?

You can install a mezzanine floor in any office building as long as the ceilings are high enough (so you can utilise any unused space that’s above you.

How much does it cost to install an office mezzanine floor?

The price of an office mezzanine installation differs from one project to the next; no two sites are the same. A mezzanine consists of the frame and the floor itself. Depending on the structure then needs additions such as staircases, railings, gates, partitioning, etc. Therefore the materials needed and contractors used will be different from job to job. As mezzanine flooring specialists, why not get in touch and we can provide you with a bespoke quote to transform your workspace?
